Richard Wayne Fye

Richard W. Fye, 90, of Sperry, died at 1:41 AM Friday, March 13, 2020, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born February 17, 1930, in Iowa, he was the son of Jon Clarence and Ruth Effie Hutchcroft Fye.

He was a graduate of Mt. Union High School.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from June 14, 1951 until May 30, 1953.

Richard was a lifelong farmer. He also worked as a truck driver and for Burlington Northern Railroad. He enjoyed flying airplanes and taking trips to Texas for the winters.

Survivors include three sons, Mike (Cheryl) Fye of West Burlington, Jon (Cindy) Fye of Sperry, and Randy (Nina) Fye of Springdale AR; one daughter, Myra (Craig) Coberley of Ponca City, OK; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Thelma Young.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial visitation for Mr. Fye will be Friday, March 20, 2020 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date in Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Union.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House
