Raymond-Glissendorf
About fifty guests were present at the marriage of Leslie B. Raymond of Dixon, Illinois, and Miss Mary Fredericka Glissendorf of this city on Monday evening. The event has been held in happy anticipation for some time past and the invitations, though whispering never a word of hymeneal altars or true love knots, nevertheless boded the pleasant ceremonies, which made these young people man and wife.
Miss Glissendorf, whose home has always been in Manchester, is one of our most beautiful girls and together with a natural charm and gracious manner combines an educated musical talent has made of her an almost indispensable factor in the social and educational life of our little city.
Mr. Raymond, through his frequent business and social calls here, has made a large number of friends, who admire him, not alone for his splendid physique but also for a manliness and business integrity that makes for all that is most worthy of friendship’s homage. The groom’s friends “on the road” presented him with a dray load of furniture-antique, it is true but, Mr. and Mrs. R. insist that this kindliness was “letting them off easy.”
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Tuttle of the Congregational church at the hour of eight, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond leaving on the midnight train over the Illinois Central for Lake Minnetonka, where two weeks of sylvan bliss will pass a part of the honey moon period. The bride and groom will then return for the 4th at Manchester, after which they will depart for Waterloo, where they will make their future home.
They were the recipients of many handsome and costly gifts in cut glass, silver and china, the groom’s present to the bride being a watch with diamond settings.
The Democrat joins the large circles who are wishing for Mr. and Mrs. Raymond a log life, a prosperous life and a life full of true happiness.
