CARLOCH HAS CLOSE CALL
E. W. Carlock, a farmer residing a few miles east of Manchester, had a close call one day last week, while coming from the field with a spirited team of horses hitched to a corn planter. It seems that the storm last Friday afternoon drove Mr. Carlock from the field in a hurry, and as he was driving across the road and into his yard the team jumped across the ditch left by the grading gang and in jerking the planter across the ditch an iron Wight struck Mr. Carlock on the head, inflicting an injury to the base of the skull. Fortunately for Mr. Carlock the piece of iron did not strike higher. At this time he is recovering nicely from the injury.
