of Sand Spring, Celebrate
Their Fifteenth Wedding
Anniversary

Sand Spring, March 1. – On Monday Feb. 18th, Mr. and Mrs. John Murray celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary. Rev. John McCormick celebrated holy mass at 9 o’clock and blessed the happy couple. While the aged bride and groom have grown feeble with the weight of fifty years of pioneer life in Iowa, and have lost much of the activity they possessed when they knelt at God’s holy altar in the far past, yet their affections as husband and wife have not weaken or diminished with the years.

After services the old neighbor and relatives accompanied the bride and groom to their son Williams’s house which is a half mile west of Sand Springs. A sumptuous dinner was served and nothing was wanting in quantity or quality to make the many guests happy and the event a memorable one. Ten dollars in gold and many costly and useful presents were made of tokens of esteem and remembrance.

Frank Ronan of Farley was induced to make the presentation speech. Mr. Ronan preformed the task imposed upon him in a few but very appropriate words. Friends present from aboard who attended were: Mrs. C. Ronan and daughter, Maggie and son Frank of Farley, Mr. Tom McDonough of Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. McNally of Cascade, and Miss Minnie Sochr of Monticello. Mr. and Mrs. Murray were married at Killmessin, Ireland, fifty years ago and came west shortly after and have lived in Delaware County over forty-five years.
