Doctor Escapes
In Auto Accident
~
Manchester, Ia. – SPECIAL: Dr. J. A. May escaped with minor cuts and bruises from an automobile accident Friday which, judging from the appearance of his sedan, its’s almost a miracle. The doctor was making a professional call to the rural district and was driving on No. 13 two miles north of Manchester, at the fork of the road near the Breezy Point filling station, on the east road. His dog was riding in the tonneau and as the dog attempted to jump into the front seat the doctor, in persuading him to remain in the rear, lost control of his car, tore down the guard railing at the roadside, left the road and struck a tree with such force that the top of the automobile was telescoped down over the steering wheel breaking out the windshield and door glass. Had not the car struck the tree, it would have precipitated down a side hill some fifteen feet deep and the doctor would probably have suffered serious injury. The dog was uninjured.
