WILL HORN came in from Auburn, Nebraska,
Thursday to spend the holidays
with his parents. WILL has been living in
Nebraska about six years and
has done well there, having secured
himself a good farm.

ELDER M.M. TURPEN returned from the south
Wednesday, where he has been
preaching for the last eight months.

WILL MORRIS is working for F.M. WALKER
this winter chopping wood. WILL
has been engaged in herding cattle in the
west during the summer and
fall.

JOHN HORN came down from Osceola Saturday
night and will remain through
the holidays.

C.B. GUFFEY and another man held a debate
last week near Saline, the
subject being temperance. We have not
learned how it ended.

J.W. WATERMAN went to Grand River Monday
to spend his short vacation
with his mother.

TOMMY LOVING came home from Mills County
Wednesday, where he has been
working during the fall. J.C. LOVING
expects to move to Mills County in
the spring.

MASTER VERN WILLIS received a jack rabbit
for a Christmas present from
his brother, AMER, in Nebraska. But it is
now consorting with the Iowa
rabbits. In attempting to carry it in a
bird cage Saturday evening, to
the M.E. Church, it sprang against the
wire with great force, broke it
and bade good-bye to its owner, MASTER
VERN.

FRANK RICKS and family of Davis City spent
Christmas at RAS CAMPBELL's.

MISS STELLA BROWN of Decatur, is visiting
MISS EFFIE WILLIS and her
sister, MRS. MILES.

MRS. LUCINDA CROFFORD of Clio is visiting
her son, A.M. CROFFORD.

MRS. HARVEY GRAVES and children spent
Christmas with relatives near
Leon.

DAVE SNEETHEN and family are visiting at
Davis City.

MISS E.M. JENNINGS of Reamsville, Kansas,
is the guest of MR. HARTSOOK
and family.

MRS. J.N. PAINTER's father, MR. RICE,
spent Christmas with her and will
return to his home at Knoxville,
Wednesday.

MISS HATTIE COZAD was the recipient of a
handsome gold watch and chain,
a Christmas present from her father.

The dance Monday night was well attended
and passed off most
pleasantly. The club deserves great
credit for having made a success of
an amusement that is railed against most
venomously. We used to dance
and we can truthfully say that we do not
believe it did us any harm,
physically, morally or mentally. Young
people must be allowed some
indulgence. Why not dancing? Of course,
like many other amusements, it
can be carried beyond the line of
prudence. If none but ladies and
gentlemen are allowed to mingle in the
dance and due care is taken of
the health we see nothing in it that is
demoralizing.
