Eunice Bourn Tucker

Eunice Bourn Tucker, 90, of Bloomfield, Iowa died June 29, 1989, at the Davis County Hospital, in Bloomfield, Iowa.

She was born February 26, 1899, in Scotland County, Missouri, to John D. and Ida Caroline Leeper Bourn. She was a successful homemaker and farm manager in the stateline area for most of her lifetime.

Eunice married Ross H. Tucker on October 30, 1921.

Mrs. Tucker, was a member of the D.A.R., and the Scribblers League (a writing group), a member of the First Baptist Church, of Memphis, and active in many church work areas. She also served the pleasant Grove Baptist Association of Churches in different positions of leadership and ministering.

Surviving is her daughter, Jean Bailey, of Lakeside, California; and a son, Charles Tucker, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa; five grandchildren, Mark Hanson, of Lakeside, California, Carolyn Davenport, of Bloomfield, Iowa, Steve Tucker, of Bloomfield, Iowa, Kay Price, of Bridgeton, Missouri, and Ann Lovett, of South Padre Island, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Shawn and Sonya Tucker, Joe and Jesse Price, and Alicia Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross; a sister, Helen Billups, of Memphis, Missouri; and a brother, Buford Bourn, of Columbia, Missouri.

Memorials have been established to the First Baptist Church, Memphis, Missouri.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 2, 1989, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Memphis, Missouri, with the Rev. Tom Cole, and Rev. Herb Alexander, officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Harris, organist; Faye Humphrey and Marsha Davis were vocalists. Body bearers were: Roy Hyde, Leland Hyde, Sydney Moore, Basil Humphrey, Gerald Kaidenburg, and Charles Alexander, Jr. Burial was in Richland Cemetery, Scotland County, Missouri. Arrangements were handled by the Payne-Gerth Funeral Home, Memphis, Missouri.
