Edith Schafer

Word has been received here by relatives of the death of Edith Schafer, age 86, who passed away Saturday, May 22, at Hillsboro Community Hospital in North Dakota.

Edith was a daughter of James and Emma Gristy and lived in the Hitt Community until her marriage. She married Fred Schafer, January 12, 1915, and they left our area to make their home on their farm in Hillsboro, North Dakota. Her husband preceded her in death in 1963.

Edith is survived by three sons and two daughters, James F. of Pacific, Washington, Charles J. of Rolla, North Dakota, Dr. David E., St. Louis, Missouri, Phyllis Waslein, Casselton, North Dakota, Mary Lou Rafferty, Denver, Colorado, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Ada Peck of Memphis and a large number of nieces and nephews who feel greatly saddened by the news of her passing.

Services were held Wednesday, May 26, 1982, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro, North Dakota.
