Elaine, what kind of information do you need? You will get better reply from genealogy types if you tell everything *you* know about Steven McNicol. For example, I see from his record in the Social Security death index that he was born November 2, 1919, and his social security card was issued in Massachusettes, so I'm guessing he wasn't from Iowa originally. Have you gotten his Social Security application and his death certificate? His mother's maiden name would have been available from those -- what is it? What were his parents names?

His obituary might be online through Charter-Pierce at http://www.rootsweb.com/~iapcmigs/obits.htm but their site is down right now, so I can't tell. If an obituary was published and wasn't in the Des Moines Register, it would probably have been in the Northeast Dallas County Register.

You might also want to post to the McNicol name lists if you haven't already.
