Vernie Willard Haldeen, 61, of Ida Grove died Monday 9 April 1979 at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City. Funeral services were to be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Christensen Funeral Home in Ida Grove with burial in the Kiron Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Carlberg officiated. He is a stepson of Mr. Haldeen and also is pastor at the Harrison Street Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mr. Haldeen was born 8 May 1917 in Hayes township. He lived there and farmed all of his life until 1 May 1978 when he moved to Ida Grove. He married Lois Carlberg on 19 May 1973 at Arthur. She survives. Mr. Haldeen spent one year during World War I stationed with the Army in the United States. He was a member of the Winebrenner Church of God. He is survived by his widow; three stepchildren, Marjorie Johnson of Clay, N.Y., Norman Carlberg of New York, N.Y. and the Rev. Robert Carlberg of Omaha, and one brother, Glen Haldeen of Ida Grove.
