Your family is probably related to the original Matthew Costello family that settled in Petersville from Co. Tipperary, Ireland, via Canada. Matthew and Anne O'Meara Costello had 9 kids:
1.John 1810-1891 (died in Clinton Co. IA)
2.Winifred 1816-1878 (died in Clinton Co. IA)
3.Thomas 1820-???
4.Matthew 1823-1913 (died in Clinton Co. IA)
and married Mary Ellen O'Meara
5.Mary 1826-1891
6.Eleanor 1827-1898 (died in Clinton Co. IA.)
7.Ann 1828-1870 (died in Clinton Co. IA)
8.Michael 1829-???
9.Catherine 1832-???

Is #4 (Matthew and Mary Ellen O'Meara) your husband's grandpa or dad? #4 is my g-g-g grandpa and grandma.
