Richard (Dick) Wandler passed away on Jan 1, 2024. A graveside service will be held on June 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon at 12 noon at Rastrelli's following the service. Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dick was born Jan 15, 1932, in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. He was the son of Adolph and Beatrice (Quack) Wandler. Dick graduated from Sault St. Marie High School in 1949 and went on to Michigan Tech University. He graduated as a Chemical Engineer in 1953. He was involved in ROTC in college and later was a second lieutenant in the Army stationed at Fort McClellan in Jacksonville, Alabama. He married Margaret (Marge) Burrows in 1954. Dick worked for General Electric in Morrison, Illinois for 34 years as an engineer and he was awarded numerous patents.
Dick's passion was reading books, traveling and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes where he attended nearly every home football game from the mid-70s for nearly forty years. He also loved the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Tigers.
After Dick retired, he spent 10 years as a snowbird in Arizona and eventually relocated to Phoenix, Arizona.
Dick is survived by two children, Dr. Kevin Wandler (wife Judy Parker) and Molly Cook (husband Craig Cook). He has four grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Wandler and Alyssa and Amy Cook, and three great-grandchildren. Dick is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Marge) Wandler and sister Delores (Wandler) Swick.
