Mrs. Lucinda Young was born in Boone county, Indiana, December 13, 1860, died at her home, north of Osceola, December 31, 1916, at the age of 56 years and 18 days. She was the daughter of Silas and Amanda Cline and came to Clarke county with her parents in 1862. She was united in marriage to George W. Young January 16, 1877. To this union were born eight children – five sons and three daughters – two dying in infancy. Those surviving are: Harvey of Des Moines, Robert and Thomas of Osceola, Mrs. Frances Lee of Medora, North Dakota, Mrs. Grace Prine and Mrs. Bertie Colflesh of Des Moines, also eleven grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Starkey of Lucas, Mrs. Martha Young of Agency, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Smith of Macon Mo. The children were all present at the funeral except Mrs. Frances Lee of Medora, North Dakota.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Tillotson Tuesday afternoon after which the body was buried by the side of her husband at Union Chapel cemetery.
