Ava, MissouriThomas Daken Kearney was born in Morrow county, Ohio, Sept. 20 1838, and died Feb. 16, 1904, age 65 years, 4 months and 26 days. He was married Aug. 1, 1875 to Miss Lolie Minear and 9 children were born to this union who, with their mother are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband, a kind indulgent father.
He was a member of the Primitive Baptist church and was ordained to ministry June 22, 1873. In 1894, he, with his family, moved from Iowa to Douglas county, Missouri, which had been his home until he exchanged it. He confidently trusts for one beyond the reach of pain and sorrow.
Although a number of years the hand of affliction rested heavily on him, he bore it with Christian fortitude and patience. His was the soul changing, heartfelt consolation of a precious Savior’s love and power which only can bind up the broken heart and cheer the bea… of death with the prospect of a blessed immortality.
The funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. Jack Hamby, who spoke comforting words to the sorrowing wife, children and sympathizing friends, after which his body was laid to rest in Center S… cemetery.
