Georgia Marion Cox, youngest son of Walter and Eliza Cox, was born November 17, 1902 in Mercer County, Missouri and very suddenly passed from this life October 19, 1961 in his home in Van Wert, Iowa, at the age of 57 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

He was converted when he was seventeen years of age and remained true to his faith throughout the years.

He was married to Ruby Edith Fry January 20, 1924 in Decatur County. to this union six children were born; Russell, Randal, Rosalie, Corwin, Kay, and Donnie, all of Van Wert.

He was a great Christian having served for many years on the Assembly of God official church board, Sunday school teacher, chairman and counselor, Spiritual leader and advisor. He always remained constant in the work of God, with never a retreat nor recant.

He was Director of the REA Board of the Clarke Electric about eight years having been elected two consecutive terms.
He was also Township Trustee of Long Creek Township for the past twenty years. He was a member of the Decatur County School Board and also served two terms on the Van Wert Council.

He was Commissioner of the Soil Conservation of District Seven, Iowa, for the past nine years. On September 18, 1961 he was chosen as the most outstanding commissioner in the state of Iowa, and was awarded two trophies – a large wall plaque and a beautiful platinum bowl.

He sought to make the good better and delighted in achievement and successes. People both far and near knew him for his wisdom, honesty and sincerity, kindness and goodness. He had many friends in all walks of life. His first thoughts were of his Lord and his second thoughts were of others.

He had many worthy purposes in life. A delight of his heart was fulfilled with the Ceremonial Burning of the Church Mortgage for which he had long waited and fervently worked.

Left to mourn his departure is his loving wife Ruby; six children, Russell Cox, Randal Cox, Rosalie Palmer, Corwin Cox, Kay Fierce, and Donnie Cox, all of Van Wert; three daughters-in-law, Barbara Cox, Darlene Cox, and Merna Cox; two sons-in-law, Lawrence Palmer and Dennis Fierce; six grandchildren, Dixie Cox, Roger Cox, Teddy Cox, Billy Cox, Danny Palmer, Dennis Palmer; five brothers, Charley of Kansas City, Missouri, Jimmie of McClouth, Kansas, Luther of Kellerton, Iowa, Johnie of Leon, Iowa and Demory of Van Wert, Iowa; a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
