Osceola Tribune, Osceola, IowaAbner (Abbie) Stubbs 51-year-old life-time resident of Clarke county, died Saturday at his home in Osceola. He had been in ill health for some time due to a heart ailment.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon in the Webster Funeral Home with Pastor Maurice Clymore of Dugger, Ind., officiating. Burial was in the Osceola Longview cemetery.
The son of Adrian and Laura Warrick Stubbs, he was born Nov. 16, 1908, in Clarke county. He was educated in the Clarke and Decatur country schools.
On Oct. 11, 1934, he was united in marriage with Esther Gearhart at Osceola and they were the parents of four sons.
Mr. Stubbs was a member of the Church of Christ. He was employed for a number of years on the section crew of the Burlington railroad before his health forced his retirement.
Survivors are his widow, his mother; four sons, Vance of Des Moines, Leslie of Ft. Hood, Tex., and Waid and Danny of Osceola; three grandchildren, Debbie, Elaine and Roxann; seven brother and seven sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Adean Betz.
