Services for Gertrude McNeal 81, were 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 17 at Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Murray with the Rev. Randy Allison officiating.

Mrs. McNeal, a lifetime resident of Union and Clarke Counties, died Saturday, March 15 at the Fillmore Custodial Home in Osceola.

She was buried in Hopeville Cemetery, Hopeville. A memorial will go to the Easter Seals Society.

She was born October 9, 1898, in Clarke County to John W. and Emma (Thompson) Watkins. She and John McNeal were married July 2, 1917, In Leon. Mrs. McNeal was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, John of Murray; two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Bernard) Dinham of Murray and Anna May (Mrs. Cecil) Guthrie of Cedar Rapids; five sons, Donald of Cedar Rapids, Junior of Murray, Harold of Osceola, George of Des Moines and Robert of Centerville; 30 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, a daughter, two sons and her parents.
