Sadie Emily Mills, daughter of Eli and Mary Mills, was born in Keokuk county, Iowa, Sept. 5, 1861 and died Nov. 14, 1917, at her home near Murray, Iowa after a brief illness.
She was united in Marriage to Chas. H. Cook, Nov. 25, 1883, and moved to Clarke county, Iowa in 1886. To this union were born 4 sons and 5 daughters, one son Gilbert having preceded his mother to the Spirit Land. Those remaining are Mrs. Blanch Hyzer of Rubio, Ia., Mabel, Mary, Laura, Marie, Albert, Lawrence and Earl, who are at home with their father. Mrs. Cook was a loving devoted mother, a true, faithful wife, a kindly neighbor and beloved by all her friends. She was a quite unassuming woman who lived daily her christian faith, and did uncomplainingly and lovingly the work that her hands found to do.
"No body knows of the work it takes to keep the home together; nobody knows of the steps it takes, nobody, only mother."
She was a true home maker and a patient loving mother.
Besides her husband and children, she leaves a sister, Mrs. A. W. Brower(Bowers?) of Donna, Texas, an aged mother and brother Elvin Mills of northern Iowa.
"God thought to give the sweetest thing in His Almighty power to earth and, deeply pondering what it should be one hour, in fondest joy and love of heart out-weighing every other, He moved the gates of heaven apart and gave to earth a mother."
Funeral services were conducted at Union church, Friday, Nov. 16th at 11 o'clock by Rev. P. G. Dennis, pastor of the Murray Church of Christ.
