DEATH OF CHARLES HARTSON COOK
Another citizen of Clarke County has gone to his reward. "Hart" Cook of Madison township having died very suddenly Sunday morning from an attack of heart faiure and apoplexy, while sitting in a chair on the porch at his home a few miles northeast of Murray. Mr Cook apparently was in his usual health, when the attack came and passed away before medical aid could be summoned.
The deceased had lived in Madison township for many years and as a result of his long residence here, was well known locally. His sudden passing brings sorrow to many hearts, and quickens the sympathy of us all for the bereft family.
Funeral service was held from the Union church at 2 o'clock Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Earl B. Clark, pastor of the Murray Church of Christ. Interment was made in the Union Cemetery.
Charles Hartson Cook, son of Samuel and Mary Jane Cook, was born at Richland, Iowa, April 23, 1862 and passed away at his home near Murray, Iowa, August 30, 1925; aged 63 years, 4 months and 7 days.
On November 25, 1883 he was united in marriage to Sadie Mills of Richland, Iowa. To this union, nine children were born--five daughters and four sons, all of whom survive except one son, Gilbert, who died in infancy. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Clary (sic) county where the wife and mother passed away, November 14, 1917.
He was married to Emma Babcock of Savaenah (sic), Missouri, March 30, 1921. Their married life was spent near Murray, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn his departure, the wife, Mrs. Emma Cook, Mabel, Earl, Lawrence, Albert, Mrs. Mary Dinham of Murray, Iowa; Mrs. Blanche Hyzer of Rubio, Iowa; Mrs. Marie Davis of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Laura Frey of Osceola, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs Chas. Spellerberg, of Lexington, Nebr., and Mrs. S. W. Myers of Murray, Iowa; two brothers W. S. Cook of Oelein (sic), Iowa and Z. W. Cook of Murray, Iowa; also five grandchildren and a host of friends.
