KIMMEL, Eunice Eldora, 86, of Osceola, Iowa, died June 10, 2009 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa. Funeral services were held June 13 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Rev. Max Carmichael officiating. Burial was at Promise City Cemetery in Promise City, Iowa.

EUNICE KIMMEL ... Eunice Eldora Kimmel, age 86 of Osceola, Iowa, daughter of Edward Thomas and Alice Eldora [Reynolds] Brizendine, was born April 24, 1923 in Appanoose County, Iowa. Eunice grew up in southern Iowa. She died June 10, 2009 at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, Iowa.

Eunice was the mother of three children: Jean Eldora, Ivyle Edward, and Earl Marion. Eunice lived in New Virginia, Iowa from 1947 until the early 1960's. She then made her home in St. Charles, Iowa until 2008.

Eunice worked in the dietary department at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She prepared "special diets,: such as tube feedings and diabetic diets.

Eunice enjoyed gardening and flowers. When living at Osceola Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and then Southern Hills specialty Care, Eunice liked putting together puzzles and Find-a-Word puzzles.

Eunice was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Glenn Brizendine; sons Ivyle and Earl Kimmel; and son-in-law Keith McVey.

Surviving are her daughter Jean McVey of Trenton, Missouri; 8 grandchildren: Julie McVey, Lori McVey and Dan Cox, Jody Jones and husband Tony, Carol Burns and husband Tim, Teri McVey, Lezli Parker and husband Eugene, Earl Glenn Kimmel and wife Janet, and David Kimmel and wife Nikki, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Elsie Brizendine of Truro, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
