Claude Francis Jones, Jr., age 54 of Garden Grove, Iowa, son of Claude Francis Jones, Sr. and Mildred [Hartman] Jones, was born July 4, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. He died at home, under the care of his family, on October 14, 2005.

When Claude was a small boy, he went to live with his mother's sister and her husband on a farm near Murray, Iowa. Cecil and Hayes Lucas raised Claude like their own son. Claude was active in FFA and band in high school. He milked cows on th farm before and after school. Claude graduated from Murray High School in 1969.

Following graduation, Claude served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972. He was a triage nurse in the San Diego Naval Hospital.

Claude returned to Iowa, where he had owned the farm near Murray since high school. Claude farmed and worked construction. While building homes, Claude learned the plumbing and heating business. From 1991 to 2001, Claude owned Jones Plumbing and Heating. He enjoyed doing work for many homes, businesses, and churches in southern Iowa during his career.

Three sons were born to Claude: Christopher Jason, Jesse Brady, and Adam Nathan. As a single parent, Claude cared and provided for his sons. They often went along with their Dad to work and helped him. Julie Ann Davis became a permanent part of Claude's life in 1983. Claude and Julie have made their home in Garden Grove since 1993.

His wife and sons describe Claude as a good-hearted man and a hard worker content to have something to do. He gladly did things for others. Claude liked tinkering and building things. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mildred Jones; and his aunt and uncle, Cecil and Ira Hayes Lucas. Claude and Julie cared for Hayes in their home until his death in 1996.

Claude is survived by his wife Julie Jones of Garden Grove; 3 sons: Chris Jones and wife B'Ann of Alpha, Minnesota, Jesse Jones and wife Brenda of Estherville, Iowa, and Adam Jones and wife Jenny of Van Wert, Iowa; 4 grandsons: Austin Reed Jones, Zachary Tyler Jones, Braxton Levi Jones, and Ely Christopher Jones; sister Doris Beebe; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
