Delores Elizabeth Muck Byerly, daughter of Ulysses S. Muck and Jessie M. Scott Muck, was born June 27, 1905 in Woodland township, Decatur County and she died Jan. 11, 1991, at her home in Osceola. She was 85.
Mrs. Byerly received her education in the rural Decatur County schools and graduated from Garden Grove High school in 1923. She taught school until she was married to Ernest Byerly on April 25, 1928, at Leon. The couple were the parents of three children, Wanda, Don and Janice.
Mr. and Mrs. Byerly lived on a farm near Osceola in 1968. She was a long time member of the Smile A While Club, Women’s Farm Bureau and a 4-H leader. She was a member of United Methodist Church and enjoyed her Bible Study group and the weekly quilting sessions at the church. She was also a member of the Osceola Women’s club and Book Lover’s Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Wanda Myers and her husband, Dan, of Green Valley, Ariz.; son, Don Byerly and his wife, Kathy, of Osceola; daughter, Janice Young and her husband, Wyman, of Denison; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Gamble of Leon, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
