Hi Dan !
I've always felt that when it gets to names like o'rourke, mcgoon, etc. the various search engines don't do a very good job in exact as well as 'soundex' searches. I washed out in all the census years using the info you gave me. Since you were so sure about Lawler, I looked at the actual images in 1900 Stapleton Township (Lawler) and I found a Thomas, b. Iowa, Oct 1858, parents b. Ireland. He was with wife and eight kids. So I then went back to 1860 and did searches on Thomas for various ages and found a Thomas Rocek in Utica. On the exact image I found Michael Rorek, age 28, b. Ireland. Page 103 (99A), Dwelling 891, Family 777. Wife is Margaret, age 27, b. Ireland. Daughter Margaret, age 5, born Mass., Thomas, age 1, b. Iowa.
