Why don't you check Kingsbury Co. in SD. for your Van Tassell family. Several of my nearby ancestors (to Chickasaw Co. IA) went to Kingsbury Co. near and in Iroquis, SD, around 1900, and little later. There were Van Tassells in the town, married into some of my relatives.
