J. Earl Wirth, 772 died Monday, June 5 at 5:10 p.m. in Cherokee after a three week’s illness. His home was at 457 Euclid Ave. He had been a resident of Cherokee since he was 19 years old.
He was business manager of Mental Health Institute which position he held at the time of his death.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist, was a past master and secretary of Speculative Lodge No. 807 A. F. & A. M., past High Priest of Burning Bush Chapter No. 90 and was patron of Carnation Chapter No. 165, O. E. S. in 1947. He had served as Grand Trustee of Knights of Pythias Lodge.
For 27 years he had served as U. S. weather observer here.Survivors include his wife, Pearl; one son, Randall of Oceanside, N. Y.; a daughter Mrs. Floyd (Phyllis) Fanning of Nemaha; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a daughter in law Mrs. Raymond (Vonna) Wirth of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Earl, January 18, 1961.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 8 at 2 p.m. from St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Burial is to be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Speculative Lodge No. 307 A. F. & A. M. members are to meet at the Masonic Temple at 1:20 p.m. to attend services in a body.
