For many years, I have been looking for Thomas Chancellor (various spellings)DeLong. I found the notice of his marriage to Ida May Bunce in the 1/7/1875 City Express (see below). He is also in the 1880 census with 3 daughters including my grandmother - but he appears out of nowhere and then disappears. In the CG marriages, there is an Orville Delong married in 1878; and in the land records, an Artemas W. DeLong transfers land in 4/10/1857 and -58. Family lore is that he was the conductor on the first train across the Missouri at Sioux City. I will share information on Bunce and will appreciate any help with DeLong.
Mason City, CG Co., IA
---------------
Married- On the 5th, at the residence of Mrs. Garrett, in this city, by the Rev. J.O. Hazleton, Mr. Thomas DeLong and Miss Ida M. Bunce. At last, is Tommy's long and faithful wooding rewarded with the "heart and hand" of the fair Ida. The happy couple enter upon their new relations in life with the earnest, well wishes of scores of friends.
