Thursday, August 30, 1917Frederika Bord Johnson was born in Macklenburg, Germany, Novembeeeer 17th, 1849 and passed away at her home in Des Moines, August 20, 1917 at the age of sixty-seven years, nine months and three days, following an illness extending over a period of eight years, having been confined to her bed the two weeks.
She was united in marriage to Andras Johnson, April 14th, 1872 in Germany, where they resided for two years, when they sailed for the United States, locating in Chicago in 1874 and moving to Cass County, Iowa in 1880. Her husband passed away in Anita, May 6th, 1895.
Ten childreen were born to this union, three sons and seven daughters, all of whom are living. Otto, the oldest was born in Germany, and lives at Fontanelle, Iowa. The other children are Mrs. Christina White of Greenfield, Iowa, Mrs. Mattie Udy of Swea City, Iowa, John C. Johnson of Bridgewater, South Dakota, Mrs. Mary Udy, and Sophia Antle of Des Moines, Misses Emma, Mannie, Anna and Henry Johnson, who made their home with their mother in Des Moines.
During her long residence in this vicinity, Mother Johnson enjoyed the love and esteem of a large circle of friends and acquaitance, who knew her as a devout Christian and one of the best mothers to whom was given the great responsibility of reaaring to manhood and womanhood a family of children left to her care and keeping on the death of her husband.
