Dahl, Ruth Clark Baughman (1858, 1889)

There are three marriage records for Ruth Clark, daughter of John and Mary Clark. Ruth was apparently widowed (or divorced) in the 1880s. Searches for her in various cemetery resources have not yet found her burial, and an obituary is sought. Most unusual is the fact that the 2nd and 3rd marriages are to the same person--less than 8 months apart!:

(1): Ruth A. Clark to Cyrus Baughman; September 2, 1858 by H. Smith, J. P. [Cass County, IA clerk; Marriage Record vol. 1, p. 1]

(2): Ruth A. Baughman, 49, of Griswold; b. IL [sic]; parents: John Clark/Mary Kendall; to John C. Dahl, 58, of Griswold; b. Germany; at Griswold on January 6, 1889 by Rev. B. F. Durfee; 2nd marriage for both [Cass County records]

(3): Ruth A. Baughman, 49, of Pleasant Township; b. IL [sic]; parents: John Clark/Mary J. Kendall; to J. C. Dahl, 59, of Pleasant Township; b. Germany; at Atlantic August 21, 1889 by Geo. E. Pennell, Justice of the Peace; 3rd marriage for both [Cass County records]

Note: John C. Dahl remarried.
J. C. Dahl, age 69, farmer. Bessie Dahl, age 42, was his wife. They had been married 7 years. [1900 census; Lewis, Cass Township, Cass County, IA]
