Manning MonitorDeath of Mrs. Stribe.
Mrs. Katie Josephine (Gerber) Stribe, was born in Skuylkill County, Pa., December 12th, 1864. She, with her parents Mr. and Mrs. James Gerber, came to Iowa and settled in Carroll County. The deceased was married to Mr. Frank Stribe, on November 30th, 1886. Her death occurred on the morning of September 26th.During her brief illness she was cheerful and uncomplaining. Her disposition was to think of others rather than herself. She was kind and loving, in her ways and ever thoughtful to the wants of others. At an early age she united with the Evangelical church and in her life she exemplified her religion.
The bereaved husband, in the enjoyment of a happy home, and with every prospect of long life and prosperity, thus suddenly disappointed, has the warm and heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. We all know how hard it was for you to give her up, and that your grief is almost greater than you can bear, yet cannot you think of your loss as her gain? She cannot come back to you, but you and the dear little babe she left, can go to her.
After a brief service Tuesday, at the home of the deceased the remains were taken to the Presbyterian Church followed by a large procession. Appropriate and touching remarks were made by Rev. E.B. Linn, of Carroll, who had officiated at their marriage. After a few remarks by Rev. Thompson and appropriate music by the choir the remains were then interred in the Manning Cemetery.
