Dorothy E. Pyle, age 95, of Bellevue, NE, formerly of Pomeroy, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Hillcrest Health and Rehab in Bellevue, NE. Dorothy Elaine O’Donnell was born June 22, 1929, on a farm south of Gilmore City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leonard and Ethel (Delle) O’Donnell. Dorothy attended grades 1-4 at Country School Lake #6 in Pocahontas County, then at Gilmore City Schools. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1946 and continued her education at Junior Business College in Fort Dodge. On June 14, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to James Pyle. The couple settled on the family farm north of Pomeroy where they farmed and raised their family. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for the Boston Store, Twin Lakes Christian Center and for Dr. Johnson and Dr. Leppert Veterinary Office in Pomeroy. In 1994, Dorothy and James moved into town from the farm. James passed away in 1994 and Dorothy continued to make her home in Pomeroy. She retired in 2000. In 2013, Dorothy moved to Bellevue, Nebraska to be closer to family. Dorothy was a member of Elfsborg Lutheran Church, WEICA, Ladies Circle and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed music, camping, cooking, family get-togethers, traveling, knitting, and playing cards. Above all, she loved spending time with family, friends and life on the farm. Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Mel) Kaup of Bellevue, NE, Ronald (Lucy) Pyle of Neligh, NE and Larry (Brenda) Pyle of Menomonie, WI; 15 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
