Donald Dennis Patterson
(October 12, 1941 - August 26, 2020)

Dennis Patterson – age 78, of Jolley, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Donald Dennis Patterson was born on October 12, 1941, near Jolley, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Gladys (Hout) Patterson. He attended country school near Jolley and went on to graduate from Lytton High School in 1959. He served in the Iowa National Guard. He engaged in horseracing. He bred, raised and raced horses. He also farmed for many years. On Sept. 1, 1982, Dennis was united in marriage to Evangeline "Sis" Hughes in Jefferson, S.D. The couple settled on the family farm near Jolley. Dennis was active in the farm operation until the day before he passed away. Dennis was a member of the Jolley Community United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching western movies and he loved farming and racing horses. Survivors include his wife, Sis Patterson of Jolley; son, Mike (Stephanie) Patterson of Auburn; step-sons, Mark (Martha) Hewitt of Texas, and Tim Hewitt of Sioux City; grandchildren Breanne and John; step-grandchildren, Jerriann and Israel; step-great-grandchildren, Grace, Lilly and Benjamin; brother, Francis (Mary) Patterson of Jolley; sisters, Connie (Jack) Fuller of California, and Janet (Jerry) Erisman of Nebraska.
