Max L. Rath,72, died Friday in Midlands Community Hospital, Omaha, Neb., after a short illness.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; and two daughters, Marjorie Dawson of Independence and Nancy Baker of Omaha. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Brant-Kerns-Jamison Funeral Home, Oelwein, where friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial: Floral Hills Cemetery, Hazleton.
