Adjudged Insane
Perley Plane, aged 17, charged with setting fire to his father’s oil warehouse at Independence last July, was on trial for two days. He has been guilty of a long series of fires, including schoolhouses, store buildings, barns, etc. the defense claimed him to be a plyomanic for over two years. A verdict of insanity was returned. The feeling was so strong against him that he was returned to Chicago, where he was kept under constant watch during the winter.
