Dead Fireman an Iowan

Independence-Lieut. Herman Brandenburg, who was killed in the Chicago fire, was a son of John Brandenburg of Independence. He was 42 years old and had been a member of the fire department for twenty-two years. He would have retired on $1,200 yearly pension in one and a half years. He leaves a wife, parents and two sisters.
