I am a direct descendent of John Henderson Ward and Sarah Munger's oldest son, John Ward. He and his second wife, Hannah Baker, are my ggrandparents. John Ward was killed in a buggy accident at a train crossing on 30 Nov 1883, 3 months after my grandmother, Mary Edith Ward, was born. They lived in White Lake, Aurora Co., SD at the time where they obtained a 160-acre land grant. He was on a business trip in Waterloo when he died.
