In Response To: Emma Harbin (Georganne Cassat D'Angelo)

Hi Georganne,

Doing a quick search I have the following info.

Born: Sep 1847 Ripley County Indiana daughter of Jesse C Harbin who was born in NC and an ME minister AND Eliza unknown born in IN.

1850 family in Ripley County

1860 family in Washington County Iowa, nearly illegible census.

1870 Waterloo Ward 4 Black Hawk County
Emma is in the household of her older brother George W born IN, wife Amelia J born OH, both 27 and 1 year old son CW. George was a druggist and Emma a teacher.

There are 7 newspaper articles that mention Emma as a teacher, first on the East side of Waterloo and the last one in 1881 she is teaching in Charles City.

George and son Charles are buried in Fairview Cemetery.

1880 Floyd County IA, Emma a teacher in the Louis Reep household on Clark Avenue in Charles city. Apparently she only aged 4 years, lol. I am sure the census taker went by what the landlord told them. She would have been 33 at that time.

Looks like she married William Scott in 1886 at Rock Island IL.

1900 Des Moines County IA
William Scott Feb 1840 NY Insurance Agent, wife Emma Sep 1847 Indiana, married 14 years, no children.

1910 Quincy, Adams County, IL
Wiliam age 70 and Emma age 62, married 22 years 0 kids, William was then in real estate.

I am afraid at this point I lost the trail but her father is buried in Henry County Iowa and has a bit of a bio on him at Find A Grave as well as a picture:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/75581876/jesse-cummings-harbin.

According to the bio Geo and Emma were the result of his second wife and she is buried in Washington County.

Hope that has been helpful to you.

Regards,
Karen
