Kay Janene Meighan passed into her next life on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Kay was born on September 1, 1936, to Robert and Ella (Straw) McCahen, in New Hampton Iowa. Kay grew up in the New Hampton area, where she met her husband, Bill Meighan. They married May 7, 1955, in Iowa City. They moved to Waterloo and raised four children. Kay worked and retired from the Career Planning and Placement Center at the University of Northern Iowa.

Surviving Kay are three of her children, Shawn (Shelly) Meighan of Ankeny, and their children, Kelsey, Kerry, and Will; Kris (Tim) Miller of West Des Moines, and their children Erica, Ty, Nick and Lindsay (Miller) Schmauss; Toni (John) Dinnebier of Waukee and their children Katie and Tanner; and her sister, Cindy (John) Kirst of Osage. Kay is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents Ella (Straw) and Robert McCahen, husband Bill Meighan, daughter Michelle Meighan, and brothers Robert, Jackie and Gary McCahen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
