FROM WATERLOOSpecial Correspondence of the Dubuque Times, Waterloo, Sept. 6
Two men names Poland and Dan Lance, went to work in a swampy place near here this morning, and fearing an attack of the ague took some homemade medicine with them, concocted of weeds seeped in liquor, to prevent the attack, and which "ague" proved to be poison. Mr. Poland took and overdose, and thereby saved himself, though lying in critical condition. Mr. Lance it is feared cannot survive the night through, being bloated fearfully from the effects.
