James C. Edsill 1924-2002
LaPorte City, (Iowa)-James Clifford Edsill, 77, of Laporte City, died Sunday, May 19, at Covenanat Medical Center, Waterloo, (IA) of natural causes. He was born July 31, 1924, in LaPorte City, son of Harry Clifford and Mary Alice Bagenstos Edsill. He married Marjorie Phyllis Clark (daughter of Laverne and Ida Rauch Clark) on Feb 18, 1943 in Lancaster, MO. Mr Edsill was a partner with Roy Sweet with LaPorte City Furniture since 1961. He served in WWII in the U. S. Navy in Panama. Survived by his wife, Marjorie, his son Ron (Marilyn) Edsill of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Ryan (Barbara) Edsill, Melissa Edsill, Michael Charles and Marcus Charles, all of Waterloo, a sister, Geneva Billings of Evansdale, (IA) and special friend, Roy Sweet of LaPorte City. Preceded in death by his parents; twin brothes, Lloyd and Floyd; and a sister, June Therkelson. Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in LaPorte City. Full graveside military rites will be conducted.
