Mr. and Mrs. Harry Steely marked the centennial year (1954) with an observance of their 72nd wedding anniversary on Jan 26.

Both Mr. Steely and his wife came to Waterloo as children. Mr. Steely came to the infant city in 1860 at the age of 9 when his family moved here from Schuykill County, Pa. His wife was born in DuPage County, Ill, on March 27, 1864 and came to Waterloo with her family in 1872.

Not related to this family.

The Steely's were married on Jan. 26, 1882, in Bennington Township and farmed there for 19 years, moving to Waterloo in 1900.

Their only son is Ellery Steely of Waterloo.
