WILLIAM J. JORDAN

William J. Jordan, sonof Samuel and Alice Jordan, was born at Aledo, Ill., Sept. 13, 1866, and died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, May 24, 1932, being at the time of his death 65 years 8 months and 11 days of age.

He was struck by a train in the railroad yards at Cedar Rapids on Saturday, May 21, suffering the loss of both feet, and lived until the following Tuesday.

Mr. Jordan came to Poweshiek county, Iowa with his parents in 1868, and lived there until the spring of 1881, when he came to Audubon county.

He was married in June, 1894, to Sadie Ferris of Exira. One daughter was born to this union, Mrs. Alonzo clutter of Hooker, Oklohoma [sic Oklahoma].

Besides his daughter, he is survived by three grandchldren [sic grandchildren], three brothers and three sisters. The surviving brothers and sisters are Joshua Jordan, Ames; Mrs. Elizabeth Johnston, Broadland, S. D.; Mrs. Robert Smith, Cogswell, N. D.; Thomas Jordan, Los Angeles, Cal.; Samuel Jordan, Ross; Mrs. Beatrice Boers, Audubon.

The deceased was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, having been stationed for some time at Chattanooga, Tenn. He had also spent some four years in the navy.

He was of a kindly and very sympathetic disposition, and easily made friends for himself wherever he went.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 26, at the Methodist church, the Rev. G. S. Nichols officiating. Burial took place in Cameron Center cemetery.
