Elinor Pauline Krogh, the youngest of seven children of Hans Marius and Ingeborg Birgytha Edvardsen Jensen, was born June 23, 1919, at her parent's home in Ware, Texas and died February 11, 2012, at the Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 18 days.
Being the youngest child, Elinor, was nicknamed "Babe" a name she proudly carried through out her life. Elinor spent her first three years growing up in Texas with the family returning to the Exira area in 1922. She attended Exira Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1937 and then helped at home.
On July 11, 1940, she was united in marriage to Dale Leroy Krogh at the Exira Lutheran Church Parsonage in Exira. Three children, Jerry, Sandra, and Richard were born to this union. They made their home on a farm southeast of Exira for a short time. In 1943 they purchased a farm northeast of Anita, in Audubon County. Babe was a homemaker raising their children and helping Dale with the daily operation of the farm. They raised livestock and grew grain for over 43 years. In September of 1985 they retired from farming and moved into Exira. Dale died June 23, 1992. Elinor has continued to enjoy their home in Exira.
Elinor was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to do crafts, crocheting many afghans for each family member. She loved going to the senior center for noon dinners, to visit and play cards. Babe could never say no to friends' requests to make crafts for their family members. She loved baking, playing cards with friends and family, watching her Chicago Cubs, and listening to her husband play his fiddle with the Country Heirs as they performed for many events in the Anita, Exira, Audubon and Atlantic areas.
