I received this obit a few days ago. And of course with MS I do not remember who sent it. Sorry.
William McKern
Dies In FloridaWord has been received here of the death of William H. McKern, 80, of Lakeland, Florida, which occured at the home of his step son: Doyle Mardis, at Orlando, Florida, Tuesday night, Feb 22. Mr. McKern was a former Moravia resident adn the father of Mrs, William Burns and Guy McKern of Moravia.
The son of Edmond and Melinda Mckern, he was born in Tama county and came to Moravia with his parents when a small boy. He lived here until he married Arthelia Hiner in 1880.
They moved to Hamilton county, Nebraska and after two years there moved to Rollins county, Kansas, where they spent eleven years before moving back to Iowa. In 1898 Mrs. McKern died, leaving her husband adn three children.
In 1905, Mr. McKern married Mrs. Pyra Fenton, of Moravia, who died in 1914. The next year Mr. McKern moved to Florida and later married Mrs. Mardis, who preceded hm in death February 1937.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. William Burns adn Guy McKern of Moravia, Mrs Grace Smith of Des Moines; one sister Mrs. Mary Curl of Hillsboro Iowa, one brother Lewis, of Brownsville Oregon; 8 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four step chidlren.
Funeral services and burial were held at Lakeland, Florida.
