Pension File for RACHEL ANN BOVEE widow of SILAS GILMAN 36th Iowa Infantry Cert. No. 734.537 dated Aug 1, 1914 declares she was last paid Apr 4, 1914 and was dropped from the rolls April 26, 1914 cause of death. No location of death given, however letter written by her in 1911 states her address as Omaha, Nebraska.
JUNE 5, 1888 1310 5th Ave. Council Bluffs, Iowa signed RACHEL A. GILLMAN (MARK) witnessed by WILLIAM AND MATILDA SAVAGE on May 1, 1888...
Widow's pension declaratation State of Iowa, Pott. County, May 1, 1888 Rachel A. Gillman filed she is widow of Silas Gillman enlisted in Appanoose Co, Iowa Aug 11, 1862 Company I 36th Infantry war of Rebellion contracted deafness and sun stroke is the source ; that she does not know how he was made deaf or when or where he was sun struck; that he died in Pottawatamie County, Iowa Oct 25, 1884 (another one says 1883) Silas Gillman was a Private and that she was married under the name of Rachael A. Morris to said Silas Gillman January 185? by Squire at Appanoose County, Iowa (second application Aug 14, 1890 states she was married Jan 18, 1858 Appanoose Co, Iowa by John Wafford, JP)
That she has the following children under the age of 16 at the time of father's death.

Second Pension application Aug 15, 1890 lists address 1310 S. 5th Ave. Council Bluffs, Iowa this one witnessed by James Smith
and William Savage..
She is living at 1023 S. 22nd St. Omaha, NE April 7, 1911 when she writes the Pension Commission again...Letter written for her to Pension Commission Feb 2, 1911 by John H. Lemmon states that all her 4 children that she raised are still alive at the time (no mention of the two older girls)
