It appears M. Ellen Daugherty had preferred to go by Ellen until her later years. She may have been found on the MO census with the Mitchells, perhaps her grandparents as M. Ellen b/Iowa with a brother, or cousin, George Daugherty b/Iowa. On the census' where I have found her she was M.E. or Ellen,M. or M. Ellen. On her son Johnies' birth certificate she signed her name as Martha E. Freeman born Iowa. I have seen a person on the Inet listed as Mary Ellen Daugherty who I believe may be one and the same. She is really my road block and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of her parents and g/parents. You'll find a short history below.

Thanks for reading.
