check with the courthousefor available death records or see what isavailable on microfilm from your local family history center (mormon) from appanoose county. keep in mind Iowa didn't require death certificates that early, so there may not be one. one way to confirm the date would be to find a newspaper reference to the death, if appanoose has newspapers extant that early for that try the public library in the county seat.
