Amelia Hyde Peterson
Mar. 26, 1872 New York

Amelia Hyde Peterson was born in New York. Her biological parents are unknown. She was one of the many children that was brought out west on the orphan trains from New York. In 1880 census she was listed in the Samuel and Mary VanNess home and later adopted as their daughter. They provided Amelia with a wonderful home and made sure that she received an education.

Amelia married Andrew Peterson on 14 December 1890 at the VanNess home.

She was the mother of three sons:
Oscar Peterson born 21 October 1892 in Mystic, Iowa
Edward (Eddy) Peterson born 7 September 1894 Mystic, Iowa
Herbert Peterson born 1930-1934 Mystic, Iowa

S C Vanness (1820 - 1897)
Mary Cronk Vanness (1823 - 1899)
