I guess you know that Unionville is in Putnam Co., Missouri. The 1860 Federal census shows a similar family living in Washington, Appanoose o, Iowa.

Russell B " 16 Farm Labor

1870 census list Sterling Shafer in Chariton, Missouri living with a family as farm labor No family of his own

1870 Census finda Frances Shafer still in Washington, Appanoose Co, Iowa living with a large family named Taylor. Father's name Samuel and he is 52. It says by her name that she is living with her brother. Maybe her husband was just off working.

That is really all I found.
