My Grandfather was born in or near Moulton Appanoose County IA on 26-Dec-1877. His birth name was Goodwin but he was raised, I am sure, by the John A. Tull family whose surname he took in adulthood. I find a John Goodwin in Appanoose County in 1870 with a 2 year old son named Samuel and again in 1880 he has added a daughter named Louellie but no one to fit Lawrence. Also in 1870 I find Christa Goodwin age 37 and Mary Goodwin age 20 running a boarding house apparently but never any more mention of them. To complicate things further, John A. Tull's daughter, Jane had an illigitimate daughter, named Florance fathered by a Tucker Gooden in about 1879, however I don't think there is a connection between Gooden and Goodwin. I am guessing that Lawrence Goodwin was the illigitimate son of either Christa or Mary Goodwin, probably Mary, was adopted, or at least taken to raise by the John Tull family. Lawrence left Iowa ca. 1894, went to Colorado where he married in 1904, had a daughter in 1905 and died in 1907 of spinal TB. My querry is to find the biological ancestry of Lawrence (Goodwin) Tull if at all possible. Thanking, in advance, any one for any info they can provide.
Lawrence Huffman, Grandson of Lawrence Tull
