I am a volunteer for the Wahoo Family Network. We are trying to find family and friends of the Sailor, Edward Eugene MASSA. He was lost on the submarine USS Wahoo, Oct. 1943 in northern Japan. The Naval Dept. has declared it now found.
Edward Eugene MASSA, listed his parents: Mr. & Mrs. Dominick MASSA, of Jerome, IA, as next of kin. He entered the US Navy from IA. The IA-State Summary of War Casualties, lists him. He was also honored as a WWII Honoree, by a Pearl Arlene HOTTEN GILLESPIE. {Your county web-site does not list his name in the Casualties from Appanoose Co.}
The MASSA family is in Jerome in the 1920 census and in Lincoln in the 1930 census. Family consists of, from census: MASSA: Dominick; Anna {Annetta}; Frank; Joe K.; Barney; Edward; Frances {female}
Social Security Death Index: MASSA, Dominick, b. 24 Aug 1889. d. Feb 1970. Last Res: Centerville, Appanoose, IA; MASSA, Barney, b. 24 Mar 1918. d. Feb 1982; MASSA, Frank, b. 19 Jun 1913. d. 13 Aug 2000. Last Res: Centerville.
If anyone has knowledge and information on this family, please contact me personally, or to the web-site that honors the sailors, On Eternal Patrol.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
